Extrapool heet iedereen warm welkom om samen de laatste wintermaanden door te komen tijdens ons programma Some fire to melt these icy icy new beginnings. We luiden het nieuwe jaar in met de collectieven E.A.T., the Moraine en K.C ⇄ Q, die we hebben uitgenodigd hun proces met ons te delen in dit drie maanden durende programma. Drie weekenden gevuld met Onderstuur concerten, workshops, filmvertoningen en experimenteel nieuw werk. Informatie over het Onderstuur concert op 27 januari vind je hier.

K.C ⇄ Q is een onlangs opgericht ontwerpduo, geleid door K.C. (Kuan-Ting Chen) en Kasper Quaink (K.Q.) Ze concentreren zich op het snijvlak van experimentele typografie en samenleving. Het duo is bedreven in de kunst van workshoppen en heeft vanuit het aan ArtEZ Arnhem verbonden collectief Fivethirty Type Club talrijke design-gerelateerde events georganiseerd.
In hun weekend bij Extrapool nemen ze je mee in hun experimentele benadering van grafisch ontwerp. Alfabetische letters in een ‘type’ of zetting zijn de fysieke elementen waar verhalen van gemaakt zijn. Door middel van deze letters zullen we verschillende stemmen verzamelen en combineren en met behulp van gevonden verhalen en objecten stoffen bedrukken. Zo ontstaan grote pagina’s voor een boek van textiel. In het tegelijkertijd verzamelen en bewerken van de output uit de workshop, zal er een publicatie groeien in de ruimte van Extrapool.

Extrapool welcomes everyone warmly back into our space to get through the last winter months together. To start off the new year, we’ve invited the collectives E.A.T, the Moraine and K.C ⇄ Q to share their explorations with us in this three month long program. Three weekends filled with Onderstuur concerts, workshops, movie screenings and experimental new work.

K.C ⇄ Q is a recently founded design duo, led by K.C. (Kuan-Ting Chen) and Kasper Quaink (K.Q.). They concentrate on the intersection of experimental typography and community. Having hosted numerous design-based events with the ArtEZ Arnhem based collective Fivethirty Type Club K.C. ⇄ Q. are proficient in the art of workshopping. For these workshop days at Extrapool the collective will offer a starting point from their own experimental approach of graphic design.
Alphabetical letters and their type are the physical elements stories are made of. During the workshop, you will collect and combine different voices. Using found stories and objects, fabric will be printed. Simultaneously collecting and editing the output, a publication will grow in the space of Extrapool.
