On June 22-23 the International Animation and Memory Conference will take place at Radboud University. In preparation, Kloosterkino will screen a variety of animated shorts in EXTRAPOOL on Wednesday evening, all of which touch on the subject of memory.
The past thirty years have witnessed the emergence of memory studies as a field that has yielded a rich body of research into practices of remembering and forgetting in art, popular
culture, and everyday life. While live action cinema and documentary films have been studied extensively, the interrelation between animation and memory has so far received
much less attention. The conference seeks to address this lacuna in scholarship, using the word animation in the broadest
possible sense.
The pre-conference screening is open to conference attendees as well as to the public.
Doors open at 20:30; the screening starts at 21:00.
Entrance is free for conference speakers; for other audience members the fee is €4, to be paid cash at the door.
