Als afsluiter van elk programma weekend cureren de programmamakers of een deelnemende kunstenaar een filmmiddag rondom het thema van het weekend. Voor Waterdicht hebben Anna en Herman een selectie gemaakt van films die zich op een hoopvolle manier verhouden tot de veranderende relatie tussen mens en water in tijden van klimaatverandering.

Reflection: a walk with water
Emmett Brennan – 2021 – 1h 20m
In deze documentaire sluit filmmaker Emmett Brennan zich aan bij een voettocht door de Californische woestijn die de waterpijpleiding naar de stad L.A. volgt. Onderweg ontmoet hij culturele leiders, ecologische rebellen en inheemse wisdom keepers die onze relatie tot water heroverwegen. Door middel van een serie intieme vignetten vertelt ‘Reflection: a walk with water’ verhalen over hoop, transformatie en ecologische genezing.

Solid as a Rock

Solid as a Rock is een korte geanimeerde documentaire vanuit het perspectief van een 16-jarige klimaatactivist. In dit persoonlijke verhaal neemt ze je bij de hand en vertelt ze over burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid als bron van hoop. Wat drijft haar om te protesteren? Hoe is het om gearresteerd te worden? Wat zijn haar gedachten over de toekomst?

Nat Land

Nat Land is een korte stop motion film die met een speculatief beeld op de toekomst de manier waarop we met water omgaan in Nederland bevraagd. Wat als we water niet meer zouden zien als iets wat overwonnen en begrensd moet worden?  Door gebruik te maken van humor en lichte provocatie probeert “Nat Land” een beweging teweeg te brengen van klimaatangst naar enthousiasme voor de toekomst.

To conclude each program weekend, the program makers or a participating artist curate a film afternoon around the theme of the weekend. For Waterproof, Anna and Herman have made a selection of films that relate in a hopeful way to the changing relationship between humans and water in times of climate change.

Reflection: a walk with water
Emmett Brennan – 2021 – 1h 20m
In this documentary, filmmaker Emmett Brennan joins a hike through the Californian desert that follows the water pipeline to the city of L.A. Along the way, he meets cultural leaders, ecological rebels and indigenous wisdom keepers who are rethinking our relationship to water. Through a series of intimate vignettes, ‘Reflection: a walk with water’ tells stories of hope, transformation and ecological healing.

Solid as a Rock

Solid as a Rock is a short animated documentary from the perspective of a 16-year-old climate activist. In this personal story, she takes you by the hand and talks about
civil disobedience as a source of hope. What drives her to protest? What is it like to be arrested? What are her thoughts about the future?

Wet Land

Wet Land is a short stop motion film that uses a speculative view of the future to question the way we deal with water in the Netherlands. What if we no longer saw water as something that had to be overcome and limited? By using humor and light provocation, “Wet Land” tries to start a movement from climate anxiety to enthusiasm for the future.
