Extrapool Weekend Mei — It broke, but it’s okay, we still have the pieces
26 May t/m 29 May

It broke, but it’s okay, we still have the pieces.

Eunyoung Hwang

ENG

It broke, but it’s okay, we still have the pieces. We’ll try, discover, experiment and play; we might fail, but that’s okay because we’ll still have the pieces. We want to open up a space for the creative process, instead of a focus on disciplines defined by objects, techniques, or genres. And explore what failure can do for us if we define it as a tool to challenge dominant structures of success.

Musician Krista Papista will take over the space as part of Onderstuur; a collaboration between Extrapool and Doornroosje, with a performance of her album Fucklore.
Artist Narges Mohammadi will involve the audience in the creation of the installation Face of a vase, a new work that started during the Extrapool Weekend in April and will be finished during this one.
Artist and bookmaker Eunyoung Hwang will be participating in the first edition of Residipi, a long distance collaboration with Riso workshop Knust and international artists.

Krista Papista
This Berlin-based Cypriot will take over Extrapool with a performance based on her album Fucklore, a collage of folk influences from her region and what she calls ‘queer punk’. Papista moves musical beacons and, where necessary, also crosses the boundaries of art disciplines. This will be her first time performing in the Netherlands, don’t miss this opportunity as her shows are quite rare!

Narges Mohammadi
Narges Mohammadi is an artist whose work is rooted in a position of in-betweenness, occupying a space embedded within separated cultural histories. Her practice centers around the creation of immersive installations and sculptures that embody long lost memories, which she translates into her works. For It broke, but it’s okay we still have the pieces she will involve the audience in the creation of Face of a vase, an installation exploring the vase as an object of value independently of its practical purpose.

Eunyoung Hwang
Korean artist and bookmaker Eunyoung Hwang started Kkamanke Press (Black Dog Press) in 2015 in Seoul. Kkamanke publications work with a variation of literature, music, art and design; often playful and with a sense of humor. Eunyoung has collaborated with Knust in the past on the publication We Can’t Surf, this time we worked on Line/Rectangle.
Which consists of a book and sculptures exploring wood structures that play with rhythm, rectangles and lines.
